Neurotoxins
Our physicians and physician assistants are regional experts in neurotoxin injections.
Even those committed to good skincare practices cannot avoid those wrinkles created by the motion of smiling and frowning. Neurotoxins help those who would like to see an improvement of motion-related wrinkles of the forehead around the eyes, and between the brows. BOTOX®, Dysport and Xeomin are extremely safe, FDA approved prescription medications. Cosmetic toxins work by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles to prevent frown and forehead lines, crow’s feet, neck and other wrinkles and fine lines that tend to accumulate over time.
What are Neurotoxins?
It is important to understand how the drug works, how effective it is, and any possible side effects you might develop. The providers at Lane Aesthetics are well versed in neurotoxin injections and are ready to help you.
Neurotoxins are muscle-relaxing drugs that are derived from the toxin of the same bacterium that causes food poisoning (Clostridium botulinum).
In small doses, it provides a therapeutic effect. It has been used to successfully treat uncontrolled muscle contractions of the eyelid, cervical, and limb dystonia (a neurological movement disorder), and is also being investigated for myofascial pain.
Botox® temporarily diminishes existing lines and stops new lines from forming. This is done in a way that does not alter your natural expression and features. It takes just a few minutes and can last between 4-6 months.
Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription injection for temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults less than 65 years of age.
Injectables
What are cosmetic muscle relaxers?
As one of the most tried and true methods of cosmetic enhancement, the field of cosmetic injectables provides one of the simplest, most effective ways to get immediate results. While the technology of injectables has only gotten better over the years, the outcome still depends on the artistic skill and refined approach of the practitioner who delivers it. At the Lane Dermatology & Aesthetics, we don’t use injectables to change how you look.
Instead, we use them conservatively to highlight your natural beauty. Whether you’re looking to eliminate specific wrinkles or get a generally refreshed appearance, we have you covered. Cosmetic muscle relaxers temporarily reduce muscle contractions and smooth skin wrinkles in the treatment area.
Regions that can be effectively treated for an optimal aesthetic result include:
- frown lines between the eyebrows
- crow’s feet
- horizontal forehead lines
- lip lines
- chin puckering
- downturned corners of the mouth
- neck bands
Sculptra® is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment for reducing diffuse facial wrinkles and volume loss. Sculptra treatments result in a fuller, more youthful facial appearance. This product is frequently identified as the “liquid facelift,” Sculptra® works by stimulating your body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue. Your own collagen fills in the line and wrinkles and also elevates the sagging skin. Sculptra is typically used throughout many parts of the face including the areas around the eyes and lips, and throughout the cheeks and neck. It adds volume to the cheeks, to the folds around the chin, and to the hollow areas around the eyes. Sculptra® is a safe FDA approved filler that is injected below the surface of the skin directly into the areas of the face that appear sunken or hollow. The volumizing effect then occurs gradually over several treatment sessions spaced out over weeks to months. The results achieved with Sculptra can last 2 years or more because it causes the body to stimulate its own collagen thus giving a natural long lasting result.
