Kybella is a one-of-a-kind solution formulated with deoxycholic acid, which is the naturally occurring molecule that assists the human body in breakdown and absorption of fat. Over the course of up to six treatment sessions, Kybella works by destroying persistent fat cells. Once the cells have been disrupted, the body naturally metabolizes them and the patient sees a noticeably slimmer and more youthful chin profile.
Each in-office treatment session with KYBELLA™ is typically 15-20 minutes. When injected into subcutaneous fat, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved with KYBELLA™, re-treatment is not expected.
With this nonsurgical treatment, many patients experience visible results in two to four treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart. Up to six treatments may be administered. Treatment with KYBELLA™ is customized by Gardner Dermatology to the patient’s aesthetic goals for an improved chin profile.
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and formation of areas of hardness in the treatment area. In clinical trials, the incidence and severity of most side effects decreased with subsequent KYBELLA™ treatments. KYBELLA™ can cause serious side effects, including trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.
